Hello all, I'm using 750Gb WDC WD7500AAKS disk connected with ASUS P5GD1 board. My Linux kernel is 2.6.24.2, distro is Fedora 8, smartmontools version is 5.37. When I've tried to 'dd if=/dev/sda1 of=hugefile' on 50Gb partition, this process ends with I/O error. Next, I've tried 'smartctl -a /dev/sda' and found: smartctl version 5.37 [i386-redhat-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-6 Bruce Allen Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: WDC WD7500AAKS-00RBA0 Serial Number: WD-WCAPT0614643 Firmware Version: 30.04G30 User Capacity: 750 156 374 016 bytes Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] ATA Version is: 7 ATA Standard is: Exact ATA specification draft version not indicated Local Time is: Tue Feb 19 09:32:14 2008 MSK SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
