Hello, I am trying to use Anubis through Sf framework. My purpose is to have 2 node and they discover each other. Discover by the means of where(IP) each sfDaemon is running. I have the following code inside both servers sfProcessHost "serverIP"; pConsole extends AnubisPartitionTestConsole { anubisParameters PARENT:node1:anubisParameters; } node1 extends AnubisService { anubisParameters extends AnubisDefaultParameters { identity:node 1; connectionTransport extends NonBlockingConnectionTransport; identity:magic 1234; heartbeatGroup:port 32323; contactAddress:host "serverIP"; contactAddress:port 40799; testAddress:host "serverIP"; testAddress:port 40788; } member extends AnubisPrim { locator LAZY PARENT:locator; anubisName "someName"; } group extends AnubisGroup { locator LAZY PARENT:locator; groupName "someGroupName"; } } When i run this code i dont see any response from the servers.Am i doing something wrong, missing something? I of course change the IPs properly in each server. Your help would be very helpful. Hello , I need a protocol to discover sfDaemon across distributed hosts. I read that Anubis is the answer here right? Are there any documentation on how to use it? Hello, Again i have two .sf file . In one sf1 file i have the following Component1 extends OnEvent{ singleEvent false; Component2 extends LAZY Lb { sfClass "class"; } } and in the other sf2 i have the EventSend like this Component3 extends EventSend{ event "Component2"; } The thing is that i first run the sf1 file and then the sf2 but the component2 event is not triggered when i run the sf2 file Is the above code right or am i missing something? thanks, Damian ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |

Hello, Is it mandatory that the rmid is running whilst we are running the sfDaemon or the sfDaemon triggers it itself? Hello to all, Let's say i have to move some files (not known in advance) from one known VirtualMachine host to another known VirtualMachine host and then reverse, by the reverse action i dont know the VirtualMachine ip that i'll post back the files as the Physical Machine that will host it, is down for some time, thus the ip of the VM i want to send back the files will change so as soon as the physical machine is up again, Given this code: MoveFiles extends Compound{ sfClass "....MoveFiles" files [...] ; // <--Is there a way to define dynamically the number and values of the files?? Obviously i should use the sfResolve() method to insert the values i want, but i don't know if smartfrog supports this kind of dynamically definition and action. ActionMoveFiles extends Prim{ sfClass "...DotheMovement" files LAZY PARENT:files??// <-- is this right? because i do want to use them inside this component fromIP "someKnownIP"; toIP "someKnownIP"; } // TimePeriod where the physical machine goes down ReverseActionMoveFiles extends Prim{ fromIP "someknownIP" toIP "notKnownIP"; // here the "toIP" changes but i dont know the value for some time...is there a way to stuck the execution here as soon as the IP get its value?Should i do it inside the sfPing() function by pinging the physical mahcine that will host he VM ip?? sfClass "PingPhysicalMachine" //<-- A good tactic would be to override sfPing by just making a plain pinging on the physical host, but how often this will take action?? } } I do know the ordering of actions that's sfdeploy then sfStart and so on every component, but what if i want to stuck on reverseActionMoveFiles(at the sfPing() function of it) since i eventually know the ip of the VirtualHost that i am going to transfer the files by pinging the PhysicalHost let's say every 15 seconds as you said the other time. Then once the PhysicalHost is up, an API call would be enough to know the ip of the New VirtualMachine... Hello Patric, Thanks for your quick response. Let me inform you what i need to do. Firstly, i want to define an attribute called IP inside my main .sf file. Then by using the sequence workflow component i define two sequential components that the first one is actually getting it(by the sfDeploy() function ) and the second one using it by deploying component2 to this very ip i want to know on run time. Something like this sequence ... { ip ?(how to define it?i thought it was TBA) component1 { getting the ip } component2{ sfProcessHost "IP?" <--- i stuck up to this } } I know how to handle the workflow components but the dynamic discovery of value is a problem to me. The 3rd and 4th solutions are sounding very attractive to me. So, regarding the 3rd the first component do learn the IP as part of the deployment procedure but i don't know how all the other components(for example the second one) can obtain it. As for the 4th solution, you mean to define an attribute that works as a function or create a smartfrog function of my own that obtains it? Danos, TBD won't work - that will throw an error when you parse as TBD means that this has to be replaced in the usage (by extension). At what point to you know the value of the IP address? I assume that you do not know it at time of creating the specification since otherwise you would include it. So you have a number of options: 1) If you know it when you start the daemon (for example the IP address of the local host), you could pass it as a java property and set the "ip" attribute to a "PROPERTY" value (see the documentation for details). This can be done in a start-up script on the command line that starts the daemon, in a properties file (I forget the name, but it is in the documentation), or programmatically by setting the java property in the code before processing the .sf file. You can do the same with environmental variables using ENVPROPERTY 2) If you know it at the time you parse the .sf file, you could set it in you code after the parse, and before the resolution phases. This is not possible if you are simply using the standard start script which do not have the opportunity to interject code in between the parse and phase resolutions. 3) One of the components that gets started as part of the deployment posts the value it obtains to the ip attribute, and all other components obtain it by derefencing attributes that are LAZY links to that posted attribute. 4) write yourself a smartfrog function that obtains the IP address in whatever way required, and make the attribute a function invocation If none of these help, give more details of exactly what you need to do and I will come up with some other options! The SF logging and where to get to it is described in the sfLogging document supplied in the installation, so I would start there. I can't remember what logging the example does, but setting the log level appropriately will show core SF logging around deployment actions and the like. A useful tool for such situations is the sfManagementConsole that allows you to introspect a remote daemon and view the components that are running and their attributes. The description for how to use it is in the sfUserManual and the binary to start it is in the bin directory. You will have to install SmartFrog on the client, though, since it uses the mechanisms provided to interact with the remote daemon. One possible reason would be your firewall prevents the connection. But given that in your error message I see "host:127.0.0.1" I am suspecting you are binding the daemon to localhost and not all IPs or the public IP on the machine. Try to make sure that `hostname` on the machines you are running resolves properly to the machine's public IP address. This is only a wild guess. I never had such a problem. met...@cs... wrote, On 05/19/2013 08:46 PM (EEST): > hello all, > > this is my first email here. > The thing is i am trying to run the dynamic web server but only the > service and not the load generators and i keep having an error that is > telling me this > > - FAILED when trying DEPLOY of 'ws', [system.sf], deployReference: > service, host:127.0.0.1 > Result: > * Exception: 'SmartFrogDeploymentException: 'ws' component. > PrimHostDeployerImpl.deploy failed to connect to (unknown process) > while retrieving target process compound > cause: java.rmi.ConnectException: Failed to connect to > 10.10.19.107:3800 : java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to > host: 10.10.19.107; nested exception is: > java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused; nested > exception is: > java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to > host: 10.10.19.107; nested exception is: > java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused' > > I have the SF running under 2 VMs in a Cloud Infrastructure. > Obvioulsy the other VM i have the sfDaemon running is refusing the connection. > Any ideas?? > > thanks, > Damianos > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > AlienVault Unified Security Management (USM) platform delivers complete > security visibility with the essential security capabilities. Hey Everyone, I am very excited to send my first email to the smart frog user group. My name is Ashwin and I am a QA engineer at a company called Objectivity, Inc. We have two products: 1. Objectivity DB, an object oriented distributed database. 2. Infinite Graph, a distributed graph database using Objectivity DB as it's foundation. I came across smartfrog while looking for distributed test frameworks to test our software solution. We currently use in-house tools and frameworks but are always open to better solutions. I am currently doing my research: 1. Watching the google talk regarding distributed testing 2. Reading...reading...reading Sounds great so far! I don't know anyone who has used smartfrog so please let me know basic startup/evaluation tips if you have any. Best, Ashwin |

Hello all, I read in the SmartFrog wiki that its going to be shifting over to Apache v2 License. Is there a schedule planned out for this shift? By when can I expect SmartFrog to be available under the Apache v2 license? Thanks, Arvind. |

For anybody interested I found some info in SVN [1]. Also I found out groovy is avalable only in 3.18.x. It is strange though I don't see groovy in smartfrog.3.18.016_all.zip but only in the RPM bundle. Anyways, going to try that out. Regards.
