Hey Patrick I solved my problem,

I was trying to run it from /smartfrog-3.18.016/smartfrog/bin instead of /smartfrog-3.18.016/smartfrog/dist/bin ..

thanks

well the compiled distribution works fine but I ll probably need to change some stuff in the source code and the compiled distribution doesn't help with that

Try just downloading the stable compiled distribution and go from there initially… somewhat easier that trying to compile everything!

When that works (and it generally works out of the box unless you have firewall or DNS issues, and it is surprising the number of networks that do) you can always compare what you get with the home build to that.

I downloaded the source and did

>cd core/smartfrog
>ant dist

Successful

>cd core/smartfrog
>ant all

Successful

>cd core/testharness
>ant all

Successful

>cd core
>ant published

ivy-init:

BUILD FAILED
/home/fivosk/smartfrog-3.18.016/build.xml:561: /home/fivosk/smartfrog-3.18.016/hadoop-components does not exist.

In the meantime SFHOME was set to core/smartfrog, I tried setting it to core but nothing changed

For sure if you haven’t touched anything in the script files, the syntax will be OK. Those scripts are very stable and used thousands of times and I have never seen such a trace….

You say you built SmartFrog. Did you download the source and run the build scripts? Or did you download the latest stable release?

Have you set the SFHOME environmental variable to the root directory of the distribution (not that of the source tree)? If not, are you running from that directory?

Thanks,

Patrick
