I'm started thinking to stop working on the SmartDog project, I was=20 expecting support from the other developers from OS community.=20 *But, till now there is no response. *So, I decided to stop the project. I'm planning to delete the project on May 1st. So, If any body wants to sa= y=20 their opinion on this they can send mails to the mailing lists, It might be considered. Thanks Vadivel Kumar |

Hi, Since, it was a long time any mails sent across regarding to anything related to firewall related topics. First of all, I would like to confirm that this mailing list is only for discussing about any functional issues related to a firewall system. And, we need to identify the set backs of software based firewall and to resolve it in proper manner. So, I would like to start the discussion in three levels. 1. We need to know the basic firewall technology and its current happening things? 2. We need to identify the feature wise conolidated information to obtain the enhanced features of smartdog. 3. Designing the modules, milestones, task list. I always believe if the plans goes wrong then we should not expect the proper output even if we put our full effort into that. So, I'll say the we should take more time to make proper plans accordingly. Firewall - is a system which will sit in between two networks (LAN and WAN or LAN and LAN) and guard one network (in which subnet it belongs) from other one in the means of intrusion prevention, content filtering, gateway virus filtereing, spam filtering, internet load balancing, activity monitoring and all. So, as i said the next job is to finalize what are all modules we are going to develop and incorporate in th smartdog. Let's finalize that next. Cheers Vadivel Kumar |
