smartcat-daemon
A userspace daemon, OpenRC or systemd init files
Also the udev/rules.d and pm-utils/sleep.d dropins
The product Cirque Smart Cat TouchPad has a simple mouse protocol except for the more advanced features, but it does not work with the linux kernel.
This tool can be used to read data interrupt-wise from the Cirque Smart Cat USB Touchpad - being implemented as a libusb client - and control the pointer through the generic interface to the linux kernel uinput module.
