After writing half of it in C, it was decided that it would be better to write in Common Lisp. As a result, the progress for a stable release has been stunted back to zero. But worry not, the very reason for using Common Lisp was so that progress speed will be increased. Plus, this time the GUI will be a lot better. And plugins will still be supported, in Lisp and in C, so nothing has changed for the worse.
The Soulseek library and user interface library are both operational, allowing me to present what you see in the screenshots section. I predict roughly two weeks for me to complete search and download functionality. Good stuff!
