For yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) proteins, the
standard nomenclature for the protein name (short label)
is in the form 'Xxx#p' (as in the example protein Prp3p).
This is also the form used in Refseq sequence records.
This nomenclature/policy is not strictly enforced, as
yeast researchers often use an alternate short labels
('Xxx#' WITHOUT 'p'/ 'XXX#' WITHOUT 'p') for describing
proteins.
When one uses the described ALTERNATE short label
forms ('Xxx#' or 'XXX#'), the 'SGD' link in the BIND record
summary form to the corresponding protein info
summary form at SGD works as expected.
*However*, when one uses the standard nomenclature
form for short labels ('Xxx#p') in BIND interaction
records, the corresponding link to SGD from the BIND
record summary form does NOT yield the expected
protein info summary form at SGD. Instead, an error
form is generated from SGD, stating that the search
term was not found.
(As examples, try the SGD link from BIND summary
view for IID 2321 (PRP3; works as expected) and for IID
210 (Prp3p; does NOT yield the expected result).)
Ian seems to think that this is due to the link functioning
through performing a text search at SGD, and
recommends that the mechanism of the linking be
changed.
