Hello, I already sent this mail to the sleuthkit-users lists, but probably this is a more appropiate forum to ask: As part of a personal project I created some code to make TSK capable of reading some image formats used by virtual machines (VirtualPC, VMWare, Qemu and Bochs). This was done by developing a "translation layer" between TSK and the procedures from Qemu (http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/). My question is (since IANAL): how compatible is the IBM Open Source License and the GPL? I'm asking this since the code taken from Qemu is licensed under the GPL. If somebody with legal expertise could chime in and confirm that this is ok, I would be happy to release the source code (if there is the need that is). Update: Qemu CVS just added support for the VirtualBox disk images (VDI), which should be easy to port over too.
