And there you have it. Many more replies came to me directly with #2 being the strong preference (which is what Autopsy has always had). I was in Barry's camp with preferring xxd-style (#1) and was about to change it. We'll keep it as #2, but someday maybe we'll make it an option to switch between the two. thanks for the feedback all!
