Initial Comment:
Small issue but on OSX the javac detecting in ./configure triggers a "Would you like to install javac" popup.
Can you add a configure option to disable (or preferable enable when necessary) the javac check.

Message:
Patch against 20130317 pull of the github version.
Java is disabled by default --with-java will invoke autodetection of jdk.
