Initial Comment:
The istat output for a FAT file that can't be recovered shoudl have some message to that effect. It shows the recovered layout if it is possible, but seems to silently  ignore the topic if it can't be recovered.  PRoviding details on why it can't recover would be better, but I don't think that data is available in that method.
