Initial Comment:
All of the file systems (except HFS+, but I need to add it there) have a variation of this code:

                   for (i = 0; fs_name->name[i] != '\0'; i++) {
                       if (TSK_IS_CNTRL(fs_name->name[i]))
                           fs_name->name[i] = '^';
                   }

where TSK_IS_CNTRL is defined as:

#define TSK_IS_CNTRL(x) (((x) < 0x20) && ((x) >= 0x00))

This code should be moved to fls and other programs that display filenames. The API should not name mangle.
