Just an idea I just discussed on #slashem with markos_64:
shopkeepers should offer an "upgrade" service, which
works like the "dip in potion of gain level" activity.
The service should be rather pricy, something like:
(abs(new.price - old.price) * 100) / charisma
Also, it should take some time. Around 200 turns seems
okay. The shopkeeper will take the object from you,
then for 200 turns work on it. During that time, trying
to 'p'ay him results in:
Asidonhopo is too busy right now to do any business.
After 200 turns, you 'p'ay him and he asks for the
price above. If you can't pay, he'll keep the object
until you can pay.
Angering him during the 200 turns causes him to stop
working on the object, even if you pacify him again.
