Hi, I'm trying to install SlashCode on a RH 7.1, and followed the instructions at http://slashcode.com/docs/INSTALL.html . I'm almost through, but when running install-slashsite, I keep stumbling on missing Perl modules. For instance, the install document says that Bundle::Slash installs a bunch of modules such as eg. DateManip, but this is one of the modules that I had to install manually even after installing Bundle::Slash (/usr/local/slash/bin/install-slash complained about not finding that module). => Is there a precise and exhaustive list of required Perl modules when starting with a virgin Perl install? I installed the following modules manually, but I'm still stuck (at this point: Can't locate HTML/Entities.pm in @INC)? => Is there a way to list installed Perl modules, eg. sthing like perl --list, instead of searching in the different sub-directories in /usr/lib/perl5 ? Thx FF. |

Just make sure things prompt for their prereqs. What versions of perl and CPAN.pm are you on? -- Dave Hodgkinson, http://www.hodgkinson.org Editor-in-chief, The Highway Star http://www.deep-purple.com Interim CTO, web server farms, technical strategy ---------------------------------------- |

Yes, and it's the very same document ffaure mentioned in his call for help. Frederic, you just had to scroll down to the bottom of the INSTALL document for an up to date list of modules needed for 2.0. On another note, I _always_ had the problem that around half of the modules of Bundle::SLASH didn't install. And since the installation process didn't stop I was lost at the question which ones weren't installed and I had to manually check every module. I wonder if anyone ever succeeded in installing Bundle::SLASH on a virgin perl installation. Markus. |

Hi folks, I'm a bit confused about building Apache. I'm running RedHat Linux (several recent releases) and have a slash site all up and running by following the slashcode build instructions. This basically builds Apache server from source and mod_perl as a static library built in. (admittedly I'm ignoring the test phase which fails - but it seems to work anyway). What I would like to understand is how to modify this build so that I also get mod_so so that I can then use dynamic Apache libraries too (such as mod_gzip which sounds excellent, and mod_jk for connecting to Tomcat in the same Apache binary.) I've tried setting things like "ENABLE=1" when doing the perl Makefile.pl in mod_perl but with no effect. Can anyone explain to me what I'm missing? (Yes I have RTFM'ed but I seem to have a blind spot as far as building Apache is concerned.) I'm getting to sound like a broken record here, BUT, don't mix your mod_perl-ed Apache with other modules. Put a thin Apache on the front to act as a reverse proxy to the dedicated servers. http://perl.apache.org/guide/ -- David Hodgkinson, Wizard for Hire http://www.hodgkinson.org Editor-in-chief, The Highway Star http://www.deep-purple.com Interim Technical Director, Web Architecture Consultant for hire -------------------------------------------------------- |
