I've just noticed that somehow the three little icons ( ^Xv ) that show
up on the right side of the various portal boxes and permit the logged-in
user to move the boxes up and down, or eliminate them, have disappeared
from my slash site. I assume that there should be something in the
fancybox template that puts those three icons on the box header. I've
checked some backups, and have not seen any sign of them in my template
I guess its one of those things that I really have no idea when it
actually went away. I know that they were there some months ago, but I
can't say if it was the upgrade to the new Slash that caused it, or if I
have done something else.
Any ideas on what puts them there, and what might have made them go away?

What version of slash? Latest rtag?
I've not seen this happen. Are you sure you're not looking at index.shtml?
The updown arrows could possibly be removed for it's generation, since only
anonymous people will ever see it.
Also, check your image var in slash. See what it's set to.
And check your browser options. I've noticed some versions of Moz will just
not show anything if a graphic doesn't exist, so you'd never know you're
missing something. But look at it in Konq and you'll see the missing graphic
graphic. It may be easier to look at the html source for the page itself to
check whether there are img or imagemap code for them in it.
