Here's another weird issue with cvs slash T.....94
If I run top, I see index.pl running at 99% CPU power, but it only runs
for one or two seconds. However, it is immediately called again and jumps
back up to 99% CPU power. This is affecting the performance of my website.
The site is http://eduslash.com and it's a rather "experimental" slash
site. The reason it's experimental is that it has a LOT of sections. Over
300 I think (the list is here: http://eduslash.com/directory.shtml).
So, my guess is that something involving sections is what's causing
index.pl to be excecuted so many times and with such high use of the
processor. Maybe it's slashd caching pages, or portald making all of these
rss files: http://eduslash.com/cheesyportal.pl but I really don't know
I could use any suggestions out there and if it is a problem with caching
or portald, I could use some insight into how those processes work within
slash so that I could tweak them to possibly not work so hard or so
frequently. Any ideas are welcome.
