But the journal still doesn't display. When clicking on a username it now just has this: ---- micah's Journal [ Create Entry | Delete/Edit Entries | Read Journal | Top 10 | View Friends ] Monday April 30, 01 Add user to friend's list --- and no journal data. There are two entries in the DB. The new journal template was installed. I wonder what I'm missing here.... |

Ack. What version of Slash were you upgrading from? Apparently there were
schema changes from pre1, and I didn't notice. Sigh. You can look in
plugins/Journal/mysql_schema and modify your schema to match. I will put

There isn't one. Should be:

Hi!
You have to tell slashd the virtual user you want to use to access the
database: slashd <virtual-user>
It's better to start slashd with the scripts in /etc/init.d in Debian
and in Red Hat I suppose that in /etc/rc.d...
In my machine: /etc/init.d/slash start
You can have now several slashd each one for a Virtual Slash site ;-)
Cheers

Can anyone help me out with what is going on with this?
[root@jellyfish slash]# /usr/local/slash/sbin/slashd
We don't support the database () specified.
Using virtual user '' at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux/Slash/DB.pm line 58.
Can't locate object method "sqlConnect" via package "Slash::DB" at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux/Slash/DB.pm line 64.
why am I here? at /usr/local/slash/sbin/slashd line 36
main::END() called at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/Template/Base.pm line 0
eval {...} called at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/Template/Base.pm line 0

I ran searches on stories, users, and comments for stuff I know is in there, but the search always comes up empty. In pre1 IIRC the stories one worked, but that's it. Any ideas for what to check? |

Anyone else see this or know what to do about it?

where is the journal search template?
The database table for journals looks good and I was able to add an entry.
Just not view it!
Thanks,
Micah

If it works anything like INCLUDE/PROCESS (that is, depending on the Provider), then that won't work. The template object for Slash::Display grabs templates from from the database, not the filesystem. You could try to put the text of that file into a template record in the database, and see if that works. -- Chris Nandor pu...@po... http://pudge.net/ Open Source Development Network pu...@os... http://osdn.com/ |

Help, insanity beckons. Having broken the symlink to admin.pl, sometimes the update buttons appear, sometimes they don't. When they don't, I refresh the page and they appear. But then they disappear again. From a page where they appear, they disappear. From a page where they've disappeared, they reappear again. I will try updating other templates in the Admin folder, though I'm not sure exactly what happens in that process. Only if that fails shall I lop off a limb. |

Sorry for my shmendrickiness. It appears the cp works just as well as the ln, which is not surprising. I guess I just needed to refresh a couple of times or stop/start apache. My coffee medicine has stopped working. |

> my problem of preview/update buttons not showing up is now solved. Well, not entirely. I broke the symlink so that I could make one small change to how a site's dept field is displayed (used as a subheader and the s/ /-/ is blanked out). But when I copy from /usr/local/slash/plugins/Admin/admin.pl to the site's admin.pl, it reverts back to the version of admin.pl that's missing the buttons. The symlink works, but copying the file doesn't. |
