site_info table, no, but I did make use of the httpd.conf stuff when I switched from RHL to FreeBSD recently.
There were a few gotchas involved in getting Bender running under FreeBSD, BTW... no such things as runlevels or the init.d directory, for example; daemon startup goes in /etc/rc.local. As a weak workaround, I created /etc/rc.d/ and /etc/rc.d/init.d to enable the installer to go to completion, and then edited rc.local manually.

I haven't gotten any feedback from you guys on the first one yet! :-) I am currently implementing changes from my editor on the first 8 chapters.
The PDFs for the first draft of the existing chapters are at http://www.slashbook.org/oscura/ if you'd like to look them over. The changes from my editor are stylistic, not technical, so these PDF's are still fine for technical feedback (hence me cc'ing the dev list on this).
