No, I had pasted everything in my httpd.conf, and had customized several things. Including the one slash built was to test if it was my problem. I think I had not updated the section that doesn't go in VirtualHost sections, and was missing something. I haven't had time to figure out quite what yet. Speaking of the configurations, shouldn't the AddType XML stuff go outside the VirtualHost sections, not repeated in each? And it seems like some things in the main section could screw up other virtual hosts on the same machine that don't use slash, e.g. DirectoryIndex index.pl index.shtml which could break hosts that use index.html Thanks a lot for the help, though! I explained this to Chris online, but the basics is that there are only one set of files these are just logical views of the files. This has changed nothing from previous ways of checking out slash. I have also added Bundle-Slash for Chris. -Brian |

Is this for slashcode.com? If so, it should be called slashcode.com, not slashcode, because we already have a slashcode theme. I just updated to the current release of Bender (2.0.0 pre 1) and when previewing a submission, in the Intro Copy field, I am getting submission.name writes <EM> instead of the user's name. This was not happening in previous versions...........atleast I didn't notice it. |

in the newstories/stories table there is a column: writestatus - status code determines how often static page is re-writen. can anyone explain the possible values of this, what each do, and if slash code controls writestatus or if it expects us to choose something for it and insert it with each new story? (we've built a custom php interface to slash that puts stuff directly into the db.) thanks again! |

in the vars table, both defaultcommentstatus and commentstatus exist. i was told by pudge that defaultcommentstatus is used to give a value to commentstatus in the stories/newstories table when a new story is added. this is correct no? (for example if defaultcommentstatus had a value of 0 and you added a new story, it would get a commentstatus of 0 and thus allow posting of comments to the story, since 0 = allow posting of comments and 1 = do not allow posting of comments.) as for commentstatus in vars table, what is that for? even though i don't know perl, a grep gave me the idea that it was used to determine if stories should show comments or not. is this correct? thanks heaps! |

Ok, MAIN is now the bender tree. If you have a bender checkout, you need to release it and co slash without a tag. I have also forked the project to the fry tree. Couple of notes, I now having the following defined as checkout: slash Journal Admin BunchaBlocks CheesyPortal Comments Ladybug Search slash-core templates slashcode-template The idea? You can now check these out on there own and I am hoping that at some point in the future we can start releasing these as components in their own right. AKA, I can send out new versions of Slash::Journal without having to ship out entire version of slashcode. This means that I can have more people testing the code, more quickly (when we do full releases, we just pick up the latest of the plugin). This also means that you can branch plugins separately from the main dist (don't know of a reason to do that right now, but it is possible). I didn't break the tree up inside of CVS, these are just logical modules that I added. I will be making an announcement on slashcode later, and updating cvs.slashcode.com -Brian |

I wrote a simple script that calls the methods that are supposedly "not found" according to the error log, and it finds them (though it has other problems because it hasn't set the user up first) Basically my script is use Slash::DB; my $d = new Slash::DB("virtualuser"); $d->sqlConnect(); $d->createAccessLog(); The first call works fine and the second complains "DBD::mysql::db do failed: Column 'uid' cannot be null ... called by:Slash::DB::MySQL:/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux/Slash/DB/MySQL.pm:458:INSERT INTO accesslog..." But my site's error log keeps complaining [Wed Mar 21 00:31:06 2001] [error] Can't locate object method "getTemplateByName" via package "Slash::DB" at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux/Slash/Display.pm line 192. Hrm, that's odd, the other day it couldn't locate sqlConnect instead of getTemplateByName... It seems to me that the DB module is having trouble inheriting the right stuff. I think all my perl modules are proper, but I will try removing all the Slash modules and installing them again. Things were kind of weird with the last installation. -n |

Tonight I will be doing a merge to make bender the default branch of slashcode. This means that if you are doing nightly updates, you will want to recheck out bender without the bender flag (I will put up new instructions on slashcode.com and cvs.slashcode.com). We will then be forking for fry :) Sometime in the next couple of days we will be commenting about all of what will be in fry. -Brian |
