It worked great this time. Thank so much. For the record, since I KNOW 
someone will be searching this list one day for the answer, here is the 
total solution for those that need their hand held:

/usr/local/slash/bin/runtask -u slash refresh_authors_cache.pl
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/slash.sh stop
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/slash.sh start
apachectl stop
apachectl start
