How do I do that? It's not a regular perl script, right?

What do most people do about this- wait for slashd to to get around to 
it, or run it by hand every time they add or remove an author?

Since I seem to have a uniquely difficult time with this, I'd like to 
be certain about the commands that immediately follow the manual 
running of the refresh_authors.pl task, and the order in which they 
come:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/slash.sh stop
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/slash.sh start
apachectl stop
apachectl start
