At Vann's suggestion, I flushed the chain rules. make test gives the same error as before, but this time when I try to connect with a browser to the server (still at port 8529), I get a "Forbidden" error. So, in fact the ipchains was in the way, but there's something else going on. >Of course I could be wrong.
