I try to set it as UID 14. That's the lowest UID I have that is more or less 
unused. I know the account owner, and he doesn't want the account anymore.. 
besides that, the account has never posted, so there shouldn't be any 
conflict. It seems that if I choose a user with comments in the database, all 
of the anonymous comments become owned by that account.


It's not much of an issue anyways, since the Vice President of Student 
Affairs at the University of Utah mandates that I DO NOT allow anonymous 
posting. I disobey the administration and not only do I find myself without a 
site within a few hours, but I find myself facing expulsion before the 
student behavioral committee. They have made it very clear that they have 
zero tolerance for my reckless lawsuit magnet, AKA-- SOS. Making crapflooders 
sign up for accounts gives them a false sense of security, so ..oh well.

In the end, I went back to the unmodified script, since I wasn't encountering 
a problem with stories with null aid's.


I'm hopefully getting close to a solution. I'm debating on dumping the 
stories out of the database and transfering them to the new database. Half of 
my authors are missing, even though I set all of the aid's to correspond with 
a nickname in the users table. I set the matchname's too 


.. but should I set these to all lowercase with no spaces? 
(I.E. Sleepless Student --> sleeplessstudent)


Of particular interest, I originally changed the passwords of all default 
uid's 1 - 6 when I installed slash, but I decided to make uid 1 my account a 
little late in the game. I was originally #9 as flikx. flikx(9) became 
flikx.(9), (notice the '.' just like Bruce Perens.)and author1 became 
flikx(1). I didn't think this affected anything, but I'm having doubts now.
