Thanks, folks.

I went to

/usr/local/slash/plugins/Admin/templates

and typed

/usr/local/slash/bin/template-tool -u icsep -s "editStory;admin;default"

and then

 /usr/local/slash/bin/template-tool -u icsep -s "editbuttons;admin;default"

And my problem of preview/update buttons not showing up is now solved. I
don't understand this magic yet but the obstacle is overcome.
