...so slashd does generate static pages every so often. That's good. :-)
I did a test for this, and while it posted a story to the main page, that
story is triplicated in the Story list. I hope that's not a common
occurence, and some other housekeeping routine removes duplicates? Or did I
goof again? I swear I didn't restart slashd multiple times between posting
the story and the duplicates appearing.

I, too, just installed slash today (2.0 pre1) and can't get any stories
(either submitted or New) to post to the index. They appear in the Story
List, but no amount of messing around on my part has encouraged them to
appear on the main page. 
I've tried changing the posting time, completely restarting mySql and
apache, even (gasp!) *waiting* to see if mySql just needs to think about
things for a while. No joy...please tell me this is a common problem with an
easy fix? That I've not overlooked in a FAQ? ;-)
