I haven't tried Perl 5.12, and until you mentioned you were trying it, I didn't even know it existed, having just upgraded all my servers recently to perl 5.10.x ... So, if you want to run the version that I'm working on / testing, you need to downgrade to Perl 5.10.x ... That said, I can setup a seperate VPS for checking out 5.12.x on FreeBSD to see if I have any issues there or not ... but, I personally won't consider that a production ready environment at this time, since 5.12 will be a *major* leap from the 5.8.7 that we started from as a base ... > The "YMMV" issue for me is Linux.
