I don't think there was much coding involved at all - I think I just copied the original form for sign up, trimmed out what I didn't want, and added a check box for the list sign up. I probably copied the perl code from the user info page where you usually sign up for the list to the place where the user sign up action happens - I guess it just does a simple SQL statement in the user info. It was a long time ago and it might be a while before I can dig up the details but I don't think it is much more than a few cut and pastes. Maybe I put it in a new perl file, maybe not I don't recall - if my form ACTION line has a strange name, then I guess I made a new one, otherwise I modified the existing one a bit.
