Weird. 

Try this, delete all of the cookies associated with your old users, then 
re-login to the site again.

Just on a lark, could you show me what you get when you do the following:

"perl -MSlash::Test=<your virtual user here> -le 'print 
Dumper($slashdb->getUser(2)'"
