Can you tell me exactly what changes you need for the Slash core (that is,
everything outside Slash::DB::Oracle)?  I know you need placeholders in
Slash::DB::Utility.  Anything else?

And can you provide a patch for Slash::DB::Utility for the placeholders?

I am not so much concerned with anything that happens in Slash::DB::Oracle
right now (not to discourage you! sounds like it is going well :-), I just
want to make sure that what you need outside of that module is available,
and working properly with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
