Wow, this is a lot of work. I will keep it in mind but I

This is just a UI thing... but there are probably hundreds
of places in the UI where this could be patched... it'd be
nice to do...

In fact this would be a great opportunity for an outside
patch which we could accept. It'd have to be a patch against
a very recent CVS checkout though.

Would you accept incremental patches? I don't think anyone
is going to wade in and implement labels in all of slashcode
at once.
