perhaps "slashdot home" could be a miniature logo

Thus it would be possible to surf on without having to go
back to the top of the comments page.

This is reasonable, but it might be a pain in the ass since
comments.pl pages don't have access to any of this
information since its exclusively handled by article.pl.
This is valid ,but probably more work than its worth.
