Rejected stories are unretrievable, regardless of how much work
you put into them. I propose that submitted stories automatically
become part of your journal as a special type of entry that reflects
the actual article and replies if accepted. Alternatively, make story
submission and journal entries part of the same process, where
selecting a box on an entry submits it as a story. Or have
metamoderation of journal entries to bring good ones to the fore.
Besides streamlining and integrating the code and process it also
encourages journals, which at present are underexposed and
underused.

Darn good idea, IMO. Instead of the submission going to the
"public space" it goes to the submitter's "private space".
