All too often a new story arrives and the site is
unresponsive from traffic. Usually I go fishing through
the reader comments hoping someone posted a mirror of
the content. Why not create a way for readers to post a
mirror, and then this could be added as a link on the
story itself?

... story content ... (mirror1, mirror2, mirror3)

There would probably need to be some simple
verification process so people don't post spam links,
otherwise this would be very helpful.

    Hehe, "simple verification process."

    Going fishing through reader comments is a good-enough way to get this
    working. Maybe later we can elevate "mirror" as a special data type,
    maybe if a comment gets moderated high enough or moderated with a
    new special "+1, Good Mirror" or something. For now the existing system
    works fine.
