#408 Italics are hard to read

Other (116)
Matt Jadud

It is generally known w.r.t. typography that italics
are less readable than plain, serifed text.

The majority of Slashdot is italicized, because of the
stylistic choice to use " " and further italicize the
text inside of the quotes.

Given that so much of the front page is quoted, this
leaves very little easily readable text.

Has the Slashdot editorial board ever considered
finding a new stylistic convention for quotes, or
perhaps just using the "" without forcing italics as well?

Just a thought. Thanks.

Italics are harder to read for pages at a time. They make little difference
for a hundred words at a time.
