When viewing stories in the archive it becomes confusing when a story was actually posted.

The string: "Posted by foo on Wednesday October 18, @03:15"
should read "Posted by foo on Wednesday October 18 2000, @03:15"

Yeah, this should be dealt with for the archive, maybe using a less ambiguous format altogether. I wonder if maybe just changing the default format (in anonymous coward) would alter this for archives ... ?

That and for the comments as well! Thank you someone for
submitting this! This has bothered me for a Long long LONG
time... especially when doing abstract searches.

    User preference. Irrelevant.

I beg to differ, Rob. It is relevant.

Slashdot is being indexed by search engines. When one goes
through a search engine and hits on a Slashdot story, one
doesn't know when that story was published.

Search engines do not have user preferences. Thus, the year
should be added to the date on the story.
