I assume that because I have an ampersand in my username I cant log into slashdot anymore. Logging in doesn't work and the "request password" link does not work either.
I'm noticed the exact same bug with my account yesterday. My account doesn't have an ampersand in the username, but the username (3vi1) does start with a numeral.
To clarify: The request password links in that it does send an email. However, the link in the email takes you to the login page telling you "Danger Will Robinson.. " etc. as if you entered an incorrect password.
I tested attempting to login with FF5, Opera, Chromium (all on Linux), and Chrome (on Windows) and all failed.
I was able to successfully log in with Chrome on LInux using the cached password or cookies (or whatever - didn't check out how it was cached). It even let me change the password (I know full well what the current password was) - and the other browsers still failed to login with that new password (so I changed it back to the original, cached, value - so as to not lock myself out via Chrome).
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Even more annoying is that now it refuses to send me e-mails so that I can try again. I get the message about it only allowing 2 e-mails every 48 hours... but it's been 6 days since I last tried to recover the password!
