#4296 Cannot stay logged into system

OS: Windows XP
Browser: FF 2.0.20

The system loses my login information/session constantly. Logging into the main www.slashdot.org almost never carries over to it., books., tech., or any other subdomain. Even logging into a single domain (say staying on books.slashdot.org) may lose session by the time I try to reply.

Example:
-Read article found from RSS feed.
-Try to reply and find I'm not logged in.
-Hit login button which goes to main www. site.
-Login brings me to front page.
-Navigate back to article and find I'm no longer logged in.
-Use the login box on that page.
-Even after hitting submit I'm not logged in.
-Try logging in again and the header shows I'm logged in.
-Scroll back to finally enter comment and either get a "haven't proven you're human" error, or the system still doesn't think I'm logged in.
-Close the browser in frustration.

I've tried opening and closing the browser many time, clearing domain cookies, and using separate windows/tabs. This trouble has been going on for about a month now. Very rarely I can wade through the multiple logins and complete a post.
