#4254 Section layout preferences not honored in Beta index

(Sorry if it's a duplicate, I don't have time to figure out if it is)

I prefer the Firehose method, where they are all headlines, and you can expand the one you want to read, and Read More if you want to ... well ... read more!

The preferences should get me at least partway there, but they appear to be completely ignored.
