#4018 Can't turn off Slashdot spam due to bug

The Preferences->Messages window does not work. Tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer. New users get headlines by default...and hence I am getting a daily spam from Slashdot because I can't turn off the preference.

The window pops up (overlays), but there is no "bottom" to the window and no way to click OK after making changes.
