The MacCentral slashbox doesn't seem to update any more. Currently it is showing news from last Thursday or Friday (November 1 or 2, 2007).

Same here. I am not seeing any updates for over a week. http://feeds.macworld.com/macworld/all RSS feed shows the new stories. Maybe they changed it and /. is using an old one?
