I have replied to two articles* on /. this morning, and both times when I got the acknowledgement page saying my submitted reply was accepted, it said I was eligible to metamoderate so "why not hop over there and help out". However, when I went back to the home page, I did not see the banner saying I was eligible to metamoderate. One of these is obviously in error.
Is it in the code, or is it me? I just upgraded from Firefox 1.5 to 2.0 with the NASA (very plain vanilla) theme. Everything else remains the same as before I found this (WinXP, with all updates).
The replies made were:

and

And now, an hour and a half after I first noticed it, and then went through all the trouble to register on SourceForge so I could be a responsible citizen and report a problem, NOW the metamod banner pops up. So the bug isn't as bad as I thought. It's just that one part of the system knows my status 90 minutes before another part. Still worth looking into, since it made me jump through hoops. I hate hoops.

OK, there IS a bug. I went to my user page to get the data about the responses I had made for the original report. After doing so and going to the home page, the metamod banner was there, as I put at the end of my report.
Then I closed the browser, reopened it and went to /.
There was no metamod banner.
I went to my user page, and then back to the home page (by hitting the link on the title banner, not by backing up) and the metamod banner was back.
So the metamod banner only is appearing if I go to my user page. If I have metamod access and don't go to my user page and then back to main, I'd never know.
So I went ahead and metamoderated before the banner disappeared again.
Now after going to my user page and back to main, it says I have 5 moderator points. I can't help but wonder if these just popped up, or if they were there before and I couldn't see them unless I went to my user page.
