No

About one in every 20 articles, I'll get a HTML/CSS
rendering error where the story will overlap the left
menu bar. Sometimes it will go away after reloading
the page just once and will not come back after 10-20
reloads. Sometimes it will not go away after reloading
the page 10-20 times.

See attached screen shot.

What browser and version are you using? Does increasing and
decreasing font-size fix the display w/o reloading?

I see the same thing regularly on my site. It seems to have
something to do with things being on the left side, and
    short stories with no comments.

I took off the google ads and shortened up the slashboxes I
had on my site on the left side and it seems to have taken
care of the problem. Font size didn't seem to have any
    affect.

If I remember right, I only saw this in IE on XP, but it
may have been in Firefox as well.

    I'm running:
    Internet Explorer
    Version: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519
    Update Versions:; SP2;
(Pretty much IE6 under XP with every patch available
    installed)

Changing the browser's default text size seems to cause the
browser to re-render the screen and fix the problem.
