#3602 cannot delete topic's parent

if you edit a topic, and remove it's parent, hit save, restart httpd, edit that
topic again, the parent's still there. it's not deleted.

conversly if i edit the parent topic, and remove the child from it's list of
children, hit save, then edit that child, the parent has been removed and
does not show.

this was demonstrated using cvs-head from about 1 day ago.

on a similar note - if a topic is a nexus, and has say, 7 children.

if i want to remove those children, i

edit the topic
click on a child. click 'x'.
click save topic.

repeat over and over.

however, at the point where there is 1 child topic left, that child topic is not
delete-able.

I also tried selecting all the children, clicking on "X" which does remove them
from the list, hit save topic, however, it doesn't write the changes to the db
and all children are still there.
