There is a certain amount of information that you
cannot edit directly in the prefs page. I'm talking
about the position of the slash boxes on the right
side of the main page. After a recent change (the one
that showed headlines for all stories) prompted me to
change my homepage settings, I noticed that all of
the slashboxes were now in their default order again.
This happened even though I did not change the
slashboxes used.
I wouldn't rate this as very severe because homepage
prefs aren't likely to be changed much. However, it
is very annoying because the only way provided to
change the order of slashboxes is very tedious (click
up/down, wait for the page to reload, repeat).
Perhaps each slashbox entry on the homepage prefs
page could have a text field next to it. A number in
the text field would indicate the order to display
the box. Empty boxes would be considered as 0 and
multiple entries with the same number would be sorted
alphabetically. The up/down buttons on the front page
could update these values so that saving homepage
prefs wouldn't lose the ordering information.

Oh yeah... In case it's not obvious, this problem was
observed on the main slashdot site.
