#2689 Browsing at level 2 doesn't work anymore?

I usually browse at level 2 ('cept when moderating, of
course).
For the past few days, not all of the comments show up
when browsing at level 2. My default is (and has been
for ages): level 2, nested, oldest first.
Recently, even though the main page shows that there
are (say) 25 comments, when I go to the story itself, I
find only 5 or 10 shown.
Surprisingly, if I delete cookies and come back
anonymously, and change the level to +2, then I can see
all of the comments.
Something must have changed recently. I tried changing
my settings around (flat/nested, etc.) but it doesn't
work. Level 1 works just fine! Too weird.

My guess is that this user had some modifiers accidentally
set to negative, so maybe anonymous posts, or friends or
foes or short or long posts were getting points subtracted.

I wouldn't work too long to try to reproduce this.
