2-3 weeks ago, I think, you committed a change to
sectionindex that broke HTML rendering slightly (the
page was broken for Opera users). I fixed that on
August 14-15 by committing some changes to slashdot
theme templates: sectionindex and footer;misc;default
got the table-related changes, with mainmenu and
index;index;default having very minor changes too.
And I apparently broke something else, because now
people are complaining about rendering issues with
other browsers (one person said Netscape 4.7, but there
have been other complaints too).
Weblint on the Slashdot homepage right now reports this
slashdot-index.html (81:1) Unknown attribute "border"
for tag <iframe>
slashdot-index.html (286:602) Unknown element <wbr>
slashdot-index.html (286:676) Unknown element <wbr>
slashdot-index.html (895:16) </tr> with no opening <tr>
I think that may be misleading; I think the issue may
be around the sectionindex or somewhere in the
Note that I left a commented-out </TABLE> tag in
sectionindex;misc;default -- something strange is going
on around there, but if I uncomment it, rendering
breaks for me on Mozilla.
I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at this and
try to figure out the root of the HTML rendering
problem. I wish I could do it myself, but I just don't
have time at the moment. Sorry, and I hope I didn't
munge anything up too badly.
