It appears that displaySlash is sometimes fed with illegal section values, so that one gets (in the output from index.pl, from a logged-in user) lines such as this (this bug report lists all such lines I'm getting in that output):

<!-- start template: dispStory ; index ; HASH(0x8c20d3c) -->

<!-- end template: dispStory ; index ; HASH(0x8c20d3c) -->

<!-- start template: dispStory ; index ; HASH(0x8c1f6a4) -->

<!-- end template: dispStory ; index ; HASH(0x8c1f6a4) -->

<!-- start template: getOlderStories ; index ; HASH(0x89e2938) -->

<!-- end template: getOlderStories ; index ; HASH(0x89e2938) -->

There are lots of minor problems in my Slash installation (see the list of other bugs I've reported :-) ) -- this one might be related to one or more of them, but I don't know which one(s).

    That's supposed to be slashDisplay, of course. Sorry.

    I've never seen this. Are you sure you have the latest code?

    This could have something to do with when you do:

    sub main {
    my $user = getCurrentUser();
    my $section = getSection('newsection');

    print "The current section is $user->{currentSection} - $section<p>\n";
    }

    it'll output The current section is files - HASH(0x8badb18)

    User doesn't see problem anymore.
