Because many people mail suggestions for polls on the slashdot front page to the submissions bin, it would be helpful to have a holding box where poll suggestions could be shunted for leisurely perusal. (like the present Quik, Hold, etc. boxes though I know there's a breaking point ...)

Related to this, rather than to the submissions bin (which as far as I can tell offers submittors no option which would specify that they're submitting a poll and label their submission helpfully that way), it would be nice to have a link either on the submit-a-story page or beneath displayed polls which reached a poll-suggestion form.

We can just add a 'Poll' indicator like we've done with /back, yes? With the submissions bin, that might take a bit of thought. I'll probably bring some of these thoughts to the list.

It is very easy to add a "Poll" section. It is in slashdotrc.pl ... just add it to the array reference for "submit_categories". Would take about 10 seconds to do, and Cliff can do it. :-)

As to the other, well, I can think of two relatively simple ways to do it. One is to create an actual "Poll" section on your site, so they can select "Poll" from a drop-down menu. Another would be to allow them to set the "note" (Hold, Quick, Poll, etc.) in the submission form. I realize neither is ideal.
