Hi all; Welcome to the SQL-Ledger Documentation Project's Development list. This list aims to be the central point building development documentation for SQL-Ledger and a clearing house for other community projects. This is an appropriate place to ask for information about SQL-Ledger API's information on customizing SQL-Ledger, and information on adding additional projects to the community development aspect of this project. As the list grows, new lists may be added in order to avoid clutter. This is also a good place to ask for beta testers for add-ons. In the early months of this list, the viability will be determined by various parties willingness to contribute time and effort into answering questions that people pose. So for those who are on this list which are programmers, I would like to suggest that you ask whatever questions you need answered and we will do what we can to give you whatever answers we have readily available. I also want to mention one thing in order to avoid misunderstandings. DWS Systems, which maintains SQL-Ledger provides their documentation as part of a support account bundle (range from about $200 to about $900). When we at Metatron Technology Consulting started working on community documentation, their manual was the only documentation available. This has lead many people to accuse us of working to undermine the maintainers of the software. Our approach is quite simple-- we will not do anything that we would not appreciate if the situation was reversed. Naturally we will see things differently and some conflict is inevitable in any group. But we see our work as creating opportunities for DWS more than commoditizing the value of their offerings. Instead this work is done with the sincere belief that a larger community benefits all. Best Wishes, Chris Travers Metatron Technology Consulting |
