Hello to All,
I am pleased to announce that Skywave Linux version 4.4.0-i3wm is released and available for download! As the name implies, this version uses the i3 Window Manager. A Gnome flavor if Skywave Linux is in the works, to be released as soon as it is ready.
New in this version are enhancements for users of the many KiwiSDR and WebSDR servers on the net. It has a self-contained map and SDR list, which is capable of self-updating. Launching the SDR Map will cause the map to open in a new web browser tab. Clicking on an SDR will open another tab to connect and stream from that server.
Two KiwiSDR clients are installed, which enable you to operate a radio independently of the web browser. DirectKiwi shows you a basic map populated with the various SDR servers around the world, and a set of basic controls for tuning, setting modes or adjusting the passband. SuperSDR is a client which opens a waterfall display on your desktop. When you launch it, a list of servers is shown, ranked by SNR score. You can fuzzy-search for what you want, then operate the chosen receiver.
I have made some minor changes to the window manager, i3wm. Windows pulled up from the scratchpad are now resized automatically to match other floating windows. The terminal and file manager are both set to reside on the scratchpad, with automatic show-or-hide functionality. Hitting the hot key for either app will either show it if it is hidden or hide it if it is shown.
That's the update, in a nutshell; enjoy :-)
